For the total hours and number baptized, it calculates to about 6,640 hours to get one baptized. At 10 hrs/mo., it would take over 55 years of preaching to get one sheeple to the washtub.

A huge number of pioneers, yet growth is 2.1%. Since world population growth is about 1.1%, the real growth of JWs is only about 1%. Who would invest in that kind of return? Nearly 8 million JWs, evidently.

as long as i can remember my family travelled no more than 2 hours to attend and in the last few years the dc was local (within a few minutes travel).
this year my family is driving 6 hours to a major u.s. city.

I remember back when the financial meltdown started, a brother commented, "The way things are going, armageddon may have already started." Really? I don't remember bundled mortgages being mentioned in the bible.
Or maybe those prophecies were fulfilled in the 80s and armageddon already occurred invisibly, and the anti-typical armageddon is about to occur without any relation to fulfillment of biblical prophecies.

Similarly, if we accept that Jehovah knows best, we need to realize that no answer is indeed THE answer. If you cannot get a convincing answer to a rather small question, perhaps God is encouraging you to research further into the big questions before you throw your lot in with Watchtower.
